Well, I'm Back [01 Aug 2005|06:19pm]
[ mood | blank ]

I decided that I just couldn't stay away from lj. I tried, I think I could have done it if I really tried, but I didn't.
So news...none really to report. I've just been working and relaxing. I finished reading Harry Potter. I thought it was good, but not as good as the last ones. I also started reading Lakota Woman by Mary Crow Dog, which is really good so far. Native Americans write the best books. I guess because they have a story to tell. A story that really means something and needs to be told. I can't believe that as recently as the 70's, there were still restaurants in the South that said "no indians allowed." They were kind enough to write it in Lokota also. What wonderful people we have in this country. I would really recommend Neither Wolf Nor Dog to anyone. I think that it's an important book that people, especially Americans should really read.
Yesterday, I went with my family to Maine. We took a ferry to Peaks Island near Portland. It was a nice day, but the clouds were covering the sun, so I figured I'd be fine without sunscreen. When am I gonna learn? I always need sunscreen. It could be raining and I'd still get burned.
Waiting for the ferry on the way back, I saw a woman who I'm pretty sure had leprosy. Her face was really disfigured and she had no fingers on one of her hands. If I were her, I would be so discouraged and I think that I would have just given up when I found out. But she looked happy. She had a new born baby and she and her husband didn't seem to have the problems that most couples face. It was uplifting to see. I wanted to know why she had it though. She was american. I would have thought she could have easily gotten treatment. I guess not.
Anyways, I felt that I didn't have a problem in the world after that. Everything just seems so trivial right now.

Well, yesterday was exciting. Graduation...I was happy when it was all over and I could relax. Of course I really couldn't because then I had to go to my graduation party...Let's just say that by the end of the day, I was more than happy to fall into bed and sleep for hours. Today I went to the mall of new hampshire with Ashley and Faith and then my family took my grandparents to Johnson's for supper. Very yummy. Now I'm just relaxing. Tomorrow I have to get up bright and early and train for my new, super cool job. Friday is Jet and Oasis and then it's off to Boston to board our cruise to Alaska in Canada. That was a little confusing.

I got back from Plymouth orientation today. I didn't really enjoy it all that much. I got along with my roommate and we had a lot in common. We sang Phantom of the Opera and West Side Story all night and skipped "important" lectures. But it seemed like Plymouth was just a bigger Bow and that's not what I want. I'm sure I'll find a nice group of friends and everything will be fine. But everyone just seemed fake. Plus it didn't help that when I got back I got a really nasty letter from one of the faculty members asking why I had missed her class...
"Did you decide not to attend any of the orientation, or did you only skip my class?"
What the hell?
I wasn't suppose to go to your damn class BITCH. I'm going to Ireland. If this is what the faculty is like, then there is no way I want to give my money to that campus.
So tonight Roxanne, Eliot and I went to Borders and had strawberry smoothies and chai. Tomorrow I have to go back into school and complete a survey can know how their doing. Like there going to listen to me anyway. Then I have to make up a latin quiz that I was suppose to be done with...Then I have to finish my online creative writing and hope that Mrs. McD will still accept it.

I really want to go here:

Which happens to be Santorini, Greece.

It is mentioned in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, but I didn't even think that it was a real place. It's amazing. I even got to the point where I was looking of Travelocity for airline tickets from Ireland to Greece, but they're about $1,000 and the plane ride is 11 hours. I never would have guessed...

So yesterday was senior skip day. I wasn't planning on skipping because I didn't want to leave Mr. Gage and Anne on their own and I thought I had a latin test to take. Turns out Mr. Gage skipped on us and the latin test is actually wednesday. So I got together with Roxanne and Andrew and we went to Elms Brook. We went swimming, ate a lot of junk food and went walking on stones in our barefeet. Then the gang showed up and we swam some more. After that there was plans to go to Bly's, but I was tired, dirty and had a lot of work to do. So I stayed home and relaxed and I think it was for the best.
Today I went to take my latin test, and lo and behold, no Mrs. Braden. So now I don't know how I'm going to take the test...Great.
Tomorrow is PSU orientation. Originally I wasn't going to spend the night but it's just easier than going back and forth. I'll see how I feel tomorrow.
That's all for now.
A final note: Isn't our class amazing. We (they) pay over a hundred dollars for lingerie that they keep out in the rain and ruin, they ruin a bush while trying to make it resemble a penis (it didn't work) and they released mice in the school. We found one during Sarah's senior project. It had a number written on it in sharpie and it was stuck in the wires. Let's hurt some more defenseless animals guys, great (sarcasm!) If they don't find all of the mice, the school is probably going to have an infestation. Oh and people got arrested for drinking on the campus. How much of an invalid can you be? Did you think that the police weren't going to show up? Stupid people make my upset.

Oh.My.Goodness [10 Jun 2005|06:09pm]
Please people, if you're going to call, leave a message. If you're a sales person, don't bother calling. The phone has been ringing off the hook since I got home and they always hang up...it makes me upset. It's really sad, actually. I get all excited that someone is calling and then they don't...

Keane!! [05 Jun 2005|11:24am]
Last night I went to Boston and saw Keane!!! They were amazing. They were so into the music and the audience was so into the music. Plus the lead singer is amazing. He has an incredible voice. And the piano singer was so fun to watch. I'm really surprised he didn't receive a concussion and I'm not really sure how he could play the piano like that, but anyways... It was well worth it. I was afraid that they weren't going to sing my favorite song on the album Bedshaped, but they saved it for last!! They also sang three new songs which were all really good! The lead singer was like "Now, my uncle went to a concert a couple of weeks ago and after hearing this song, he turned to the person next to him and said that it was the best song of all time. I'm not really sure if that's true, but I'll let you guys decide." My decision: It was really good. Plus we were right on the water, so that was nice. The opening acts were Regina Spektor and Josh Ritter. Regina had an amazing voice, but she was a little too much on the eccentric side. Josh Ritter was really good and he looked so happy to be there. He had the goofiest smile on his face. It was cute. So all in all it was an amazing night and I was really happy to be there.

Today I had a more relaxing day at school. I didn't have a whole lot to do, so that was nice. We began to mummify our chicken in AP Bio, which was a little disgusting...then in 4th period "group" got yelled at by the nazi and talked about where we would be in ten years. I also found out that L.A. might be going to Limerick, so I would have someone that I know with me!!

I decided to take a nap when I got home and woke up quite confused (at least that's what my mom said...). I then went to the library with Ashley, where I took out a bunch of cds. Then I spent about two hours working on my icon lj, which I'll put a link to soon, and creating a new layout.

Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to go to the PSU orientation and graduation practice at the same time. Should be interesting...

Why'd you sing Hallelujah
If it means nothing to ya
Why'd you sing with me at all?

Where have all the bastards gone? [31 May 2005|08:04pm]
There all right here in Bow...
  • People need to calm down and not let the drama in.
  • It can take over your life and eat you up...
  • Do some yoga, or just ommm a lot. It really does work.

she's a rebel...and she's dangerous.

People are complaining that I don't update enough... so I thought I'd take a little bit of time out of my eventful night to do just that.

Friday I hung out with the boys and we played pool and watched Lost.
Saturday I went to Borders with Ashley and then watched the Aviator.
Sunday I went to a cookout with Ashley and then we began to watch Dazed and Confused. After that Roxanne called and we had a sleep over, watching Star Wars and Lost. We stayed up into the wee hours of the morning talking about life and how depressed we were and then we went to bed. When we awoke, we played some Dirty Dancing HN and made breakfast and then decided to watch Dirty Dancing HN. Then Rox came over my house and we listened to Green Day loudly... I love those guys! Then we hung out at Pat's and watched The Incredibles.

Locke: "You're having a bad month."

Charlie: "Aww, you guys have an inside joke. How absolutely wonderful for you both."

So I presented my senior project and it went well. I was nervous, which I wasn't really expecting, but it wasn't bad. Of course I did forget to show all of my visuals...but that's besides the point. Not much else is going down. I have to buckle down to school for the last couple of weeks and then it will be over. Soon I'll be in Ireland!

I've been trying to finish up my senior project presentation, but I've been getting a little distracted. It's ok, I'm almost done. My presentation is during period 3 if anyone wants to come cheer me on. I'm actually not really nervous. I know that I worked hard on this project and I've done enough presentations during the past two weeks to make me all set in my presentation skills.
I've been a little obsessive with Star Wars lately. Mainly buying episodes I and II (even though they aren't known to be the most cinematic epics of all time), calling Alaska "Darth Puppy" and talking in Yoda speak.

Done, I am.

Star Wars Horoscope for Aries

Like many aries, you have demonstrated your penchant for inflicting pain.
You feel you are at the center of the universe and that you must be in control.
You enjoy being a leader... and you find that your aggression and quick temper serve you well.

Star wars character you are most like: The Emperor

Geeks Unite! [22 May 2005|01:56pm]
So, Friday I hung out with Rox, Pat, Eliot and Kyle. The girls watched the boys obsess over video games and then we went for an adventure in the woods...Then we went to see the play which was very good and funny. Then I was dropped off. But to my complete excitement, Rox called me about 5 minutes later and asked if I wanted to see Star Wars!!!!Eek!! I'm not going to talk about it except to say that it was very good and my energy level went way up after watching it.
Saturday I went to an international fair in Warner, which was very interesting. There wasn't much international-ism going on there, but oh well. Did you know that Hopinkton has a steel drum band? And they did a song from the Motorcycle Diaries!! Then Ashley and I watched Return of the Jedi (as long as we watch the one that has Hot-Solo in it-Ashley. Ashley they all have "Hot-Solo" in it.)
Today will be filled with homework and hopefully a little bit of movie watching.

I just want to say that Lost is amazing. Only one episode left and I recommend that you all watch it because it guarantees to kick ass and it's 2 hours long!!! I can't wait!

I really want to see Star Wars III...*whine*...

School sucks, but it's almost over and I have a lot to look forward to!

That's about it for the sporadic and non-eventful journal entry.
